Grocery collection, Deacons’ Festival, spaghetti dinner and more

Nativity Lutheran Church will hold a grocery collection to benefit North Hills Community Outreach’s food pantry from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Ferguson Road Kuhn’s Market. The public is invited to give non-perishable food items and paper/cleaning products.
Glenshaw Presbyterian Church, 300 Glenn Ave., will host the annual Deacons’ Festival and Auction in King’s Hall at 11:45 a.m. Aug. 25. The cost is $5 per person; children 5 and younger are free. The price includes a picnic lunch, dessert and a chance to participate in the charity auction.
Past auction items have included tickets to theatrical shows, sporting events and museums, homemade baked goods and themed. The money raised from the Deacons’ Festival is used for community work and charitable contributions.
Epworth United Methodist
Epworth United Methodist Church will host a Peach Social and Bake Sale on Aug. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for kids under 5.
St. Catherine of Sweden Parish
St. Catherine of Sweden Parish on Wildwood Road in Hampton Township will host a Food Truck Festival on Aug. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the lower parking lot of the church grounds. Enjoy live music from Second Breakfast, craft beers from Hop Farm Brewing, small-batch wines from Mazzota Winery and food from five food trucks: Mission Mahi, Bado’s Pizza, BRGR, Pittsburgh Smokehouse and Pittsburgh Halal. Top off the evening with ice cream from Brusters. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
The Elfinwild Lions Club will hold a spaghetti dinner at Elfinwild Presbyterian Church, Mt. Royal Blvd., on Sept. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. Prices are seniors $7; adults $8; children 6-12 $5; children under 6 free. Dinner includes salad, spaghetti (sausage, beef or veggie sauce), breadstick, beverage and dessert. Takeout available. For details, call the church office at 412-486-1454.
Blessed Trinity Academy
Blessed Trinity Academy is selling raffle tickets coinciding with the 2019 NFL season. Each week, there are four chances to win based on scores, with large cash prizes at the end of the season. Overall prizes equal $21,800. Tickets can be purchased for $20 each. Tickets will be sold after Masses at the scrip tables, at the BTA scrip office Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and at the St. Bonaventure scrip office Fridays from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
