Summertime is never a boring time for students enrolled in the HTSD Summer Program. Students enrolled in the program were able to explore their artistic side with a variety of art classes and summer theater. There is a new “sensory walk” at Wyland Elementary, located outside the first-grade classrooms, which will be open to all students. The purpose is to give students the opportunity to move throughout the day as part of the school’s “brain breaks” so they can concentrate better on their school work. The sensory walk also is great for helping students to improve their coordination and gross motor skills.
A.W. Beattie Career Center recently celebrated one retirement and two promotions at the administration level. While Assistant Director Sandy Niggel has retired after 19 years at the career center, Jason Watkins and Thea Holzworth have been approved for internal promotions by the career center’s joint operating committee. Immediately following Hampton Township School District’s 2019 graduation ceremony, workers began the monumental task of replacing the track and field surface at Fridley Field. The target date for completion is Aug. 15 as to not impact the fall sports season at the school.
