EDITOR’S NOTE: In response to guidelines put in place to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the following events have been suspended or canceled. St. Mary of Assumption The 2020 fish fry season is going on at St. Mary of Assumption. Adults and senior citizens get a choice of fried or baked fish, three sides, dessert and a beverage. Children get fried fish or pizza, two sides, dessert and a beverage. The cost for adults is $11, senior citizens are $10, and children’s dinners are at $7. The cost is free for children under 3. Takeout is available at 412-684-1112 and will be accepted beginning at 4 p.m. The church is at 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw. Epworth United Methodist The United Methodist Women of Epworth United Methodist Church will be hosting their annual Salad/Card Party on March 28, from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be baked goods, homemade jellies, a craft and gift table and door prizes. The cost to attend is $9 per person, or $8 for anybody 60 or older. Reservations are required. Call 412-445-8943 to make a reservation. The church is at 1300 Burchfield Road, Allison Park. Trinity Evangelical The high school youth of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia will be holding their annual spaghetti dinner and basket auction fundraiser March 29. Dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, rolls, drinks, and dessert and will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12, and children ages 3 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the door. The dinner will feature many auction baskets with varying values and the auction will be ongoing throughout the dinner. The dinner and auction benefit the church youth trip to the national Lutheran youth gathering in 2021 in Minneapolis. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 3832 Gibsonia Road, Gibsonia. St. Catherine of Sweden The Catholic Community of St. Catherine of Sweden and St. Richard host a “Lenten Fish Fry” every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the St. Catherine of Sweden social hall on Wildwood Road in Hampton Township. Fish dinners offer a choice of baked or fried cod or steamed or batter baked shrimp and include two side dishes and dessert. Fish sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, fish and shrimp tacos, grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, clam chowder and vegetarian salads are also available. Senior citizens enjoy a discount on the fish and shrimp dinners and all dinners served in the dining room from 4 to 5 p.m. receive a 10% discount. Take out is available and includes a curbside pickup option for orders placed in advance. Orders can be placed by calling the parish 412-486-6001 or through the parish website at Glenshaw Valley Presbyterian A Spring Craft & Vendor Show will be held March 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring crafts, vendors, a bake sale, a Chinese auction and more. Glenshaw Presbyterian On April 5, Glenshaw Presbyterian Church at 300 Glenn Ave. is planning to fill-a-truck with nonperishable food items to be donated to the Bread of Life food Pantry at Calvert Presbyterian Church in Etna. A truck will be parked in the church parting lot from 8 to 11:30 a.m. to accept the food donations. Any donations are greatly appreciated. St. Richard The Guatemala Mission Group of St. Richard’s Church will be holding their fifth annual 5K Race/Walk on April 18, 9 a.m. at the North Park Swimming Pool. The race will raise money to support a very poor orphanage in Patzun, Guatemala. There will be food and auction baskets and strollers and dogs are welcome.
